It is springtime and the sunshine and blooming flowers are so refreshing after the long winter months. It is Sunday afternoon and for I always like to slow things down and rest, relax, read, write and listen to music.
One topic I often wonder about is “the will of God” and whether I am fulfilling his calling on my life. If you’re like me and have ever wondered what the will of God is for your life read on. This following verse articulates this:
“Rejoice evermore, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)
Everything we do should be born out of a close intimate relationship with our Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. The above verse exhorts us to a thankful rejoicing heart and close communion with our God through prayer each day. Then the works that we do for God are born out of this place of fellowship and rest in Him as he guides us each day.
The Bible is full of encouragement to rejoice. I love the following verse in Zechariah:
“Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King is coming to you” (Zechariah 9:9)
Wow! We have so much to rejoice over. Jesus Christ laid down His life for us so that we could be forgiven and spend eternity with Him. We have Him living in our hearts via the Holy Spirit given so graciously to us. What a beautiful relationship.
It’s easy to take our eyes off our Saviour and worry about circumstances around us and get all caught up in the negatives. However if we look up and give thanks our hearts will be filled with joy.
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” (Romans 15:13)
