It is mid-afternoon and I am nestled on the couch with my laptop and a mug of coffee. I love that it is quiet here, minimal traffic noise and there are always plenty of birds chirping away which is pleasant.
The Lord has put this scripture on my heart lately:
“Wait on the Lord, be of good courage and He shall strengthen your heart, wait I say on the Lord” (Psalm 27:14).
I am sure you can relate to this but sometimes I focus on my weaknesses and everything that I am not. I focus on failure this focus tends to lead to lack of courage and strength looking towards the future.
It is in times of rest with Him that my heart is strengthened to go on. I cherish these times and usually like to put on soaking worship music and meditate on scripture. Below is a video that I love which helps me do this:
The Lord wants us to be strong but not strong in ourselves, strong in Him. It is knowing that He is with us, upholding us every moment of every day that should bring our hearts comfort and strength. Another scripture that has been on my heart lately is this:
“Fear not for I am with you, be not dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand” (Isaiah 41:10).
Over and over in the Word we are encouraged to “fear not”. Apparently this phrase appears 365 times in the Bible as if to underline that this is a daily reminder to stand strong against fear. God not only tells us not to fear but to be “strong and courageous”.
If you are feeling fearful or tentative about the future today remember that the Lord is encouraging His children today:
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage, do not be afraid, nor be dismayed for the Lord your God is with your wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9).
