Death to Life

It is 5:26am and I love the feeling of being up early before the rest of the world. To be honest it doesn’t happen that often but when it does I make the most of it. It is a chilly winter morning and my heater is on full, mug of coffee is in hand.

Music in the background is “Rattle” by Elevation worship. The lyrics have been in my head for days lately.

“This is the sound of dry bones rattling

This is the praise make a dead man walk again

Open the grave

I’m coming out

I’m going to live

Going to live again”

I think about the passage in Ezekiel 37 where God sets the prophet down in a valley full of dry bones and the bones appear dead and lifeless. God commands him to prophesy life to the bones.

There is a rattling sound as the bones come together, bone on bone. Sinews and flesh cover them and God instructs Ezekiel to prophesy breath to enter into them. Just hear Ezekiel’s response “So I prophesied as He commanded me and breath came into them and they stood upon their feet, an exceeding great army” (Ezekiel 37:10).

Wow! I cannot begin to imagine how amazing this would have been to witness. From dead, dry, lifeless bones to an exceeding great army, strong and powerful. We serve an amazing God who “calls things that are not as though they were” (Romans 4:17). However in this case God instructed his servant to do the same and that is what we are to do.

I can’t help but think of issues in my own life that have appeared from the natural perspective, dead and lifeless. It’s time to prophesy life into dead situations.

Friend, what dreams and circumstances in your life need breath today? Start speaking over those situations and believe God for a miracle.

Just listen to these lyrics:

“My God is able to deliver

And heal

And restore

Anything that He wants to”
